If the device does not show up in the web editor or Mac OS apps, follow the steps below.
USB MIDI
Plug in power and connect the pedal to your PC using a USB mini B cable.
If the pedal shows up as an external drive, that means it was started in USB Mass Storage mode for firmware updates. Plug in the pedal normally (without holding down either footswitch) to use MIDI.
If you have Google Chrome installed, open the web editor for your pedal.
Note that the editor URL must start with https (not http), so that Chrome has permission to access your MIDI devices.
The first time you connect, Chrome will ask you to allow www.redpandalab.com to use your MIDI devices:
Click Allow. If you do not see that alert, make sure your security settings are not blocking it.
You should see a small MIDI keyboard icon in the address bar: 
If the icon has a red X like this: 
you can click the icon and select Always allow https://www.redpandalab.com to have full control of MIDI devices
The editor should reflect the current pedal knob settings and say "Status: Connected"
If the editor says "Status: Not Found", continue with the steps below.
Check Device Manager
Use the Windows Device Manager to verify that the PC recognizes your pedal. Right click on the start menu and select Device Manager.
Expand Sound, video and game controllers
The pedal should be listed by name. Right click on the pedal and select Properties.
On the General tab, the Device Status should say "This device is working properly"
On the Events tab, there should be event listed with these descriptions:
- Device configured (wdma_usb.inf)
- Device started (usbaudio)
If there is an error in the event list, such as "Device not started", try to uninstall the device:
- Right-click on the pedal in the Device Manager and select Uninstall device.
- Disconnect the power cable from the pedal. You can leave the USB cable connected.
- If Windows says that you need to restart to finish uninstalling the device, restart your PC.
- After restart, connect a USB cable between the PC and pedal.
- Connect power to the pedal.
Windows will detect the pedal and configure it. You can now check the connection again.
Check web editor
Go to the Help tab and click the Show MIDI Devices button. It should list your pedal under MIDI Inputs and MIDI Outputs. Both should say "(open)".
The editor prints some information to the JavaScript console on startup. You can open the JavaScript console by clicking the three vertical dots on the Chrome toolbar and selecting More tools > Developer tools. Then click on the Console tab.
Use a MIDI Monitor
Install MIDI-OX or Pocket MIDI.
Your pedal should be visible in the list of MIDI inputs and outputs.
Select your pedal as the MIDI input. If you turn one of the pedal's knobs, a stream of MIDI control change (CC) messages should be displayed.
